Good Drinks Australia

Who We Are

Good Drinks Australia is one of the country's largest independent craft beverage companies and home to iconic brands including Gage Roads Brew Co and Matso's. From our Palmyra production brewery, we produce award winning beers enjoyed across the country.

Our brewing team is built on passion, craftsmanship and a strong culture of mentoring. Many of our brewers began their careers as trainees and have gone on to become some of the most respected brewers in Australia. This role is designed for people who genuinely want to build a career in brewing.

Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a Trainee Brewer to join our production team. This is your entry point into a real brewing career — you'll be trained across the entire brewing process through a structured development pathway, working within a team of four brewers on shift, led by an experienced Team Leader who will provide day-to-day mentoring.

The Training Program

You'll progress through all key stages of brewing:

  • Hygiene and sanitation systems
  • Cellaring, fermentation and yeast management

  • Wort production in the brewhouse
  • Filtration of beer and RTD preparation for packaging

Alongside hands-on training in production, you'll complete formal industry education through the Chartered Institute of Brewers and Distillers (CIBD) — a recognised qualification that will follow your career.

This is a hands-on manufacturing role in a fast-paced production environment. It requires physical work, attention to detail and a genuine commitment to learning.

Roster

Our brewery runs around the clock, 24 hours a day, 6 days a week so it’s worth understanding the shift pattern before you apply:

  • 12-hour shifts covering both days and nights, Sunday to Friday

  • Rotating roster – you’ll work a mix of day and night blocks
  • Blocks of 3 to 4 shifts, followed by days off

This pattern suits people who like longer stretches of time off between blocks, but it does mean regular night work and some weekends and public holidays. If that works for your lifestyle, we’d love to hear from you.

Flexibility and reliability are essential.

Desired Skills and Experience

What We're Looking For

We are looking for people with the attitude and drive to become brewers.

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Desire to build a long-term career in brewing
  • Attention to detail and pride in your work
  • Ability to work effectively in a close-knit team
  • Physical capability to perform manual tasks in a production environment

Advantageous:

  • Basic understanding of brewing or beer styles
  • Previous experience in food, beverage or manufacturing environments
  • Forklift licence
  • OHS training

The Good Stuff

  • Gage Bucks — beer money allocated throughout the year
  • Staff discounts on merch, food and drink at our hospitality venues
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program
  • Invites to events through our industry, sporting and entertainment partnerships

A Note to Applicants

The strongest applications come from people who truly want to become brewers. In your cover letter, tell us why brewing interests you and what you enjoy about beer.

No formal brewing experience is required. We're looking for attitude, curiosity and commitment. If that's you, we'd love to hear from you!
